If you have never played the piano, you do not need to start with a complete piece. “First steps” divides the beginning into six stages: keyboard orientation, pressing and releasing, feeling the pulse, telling C and D apart, combining note choice with the pulse, and adding your own part to a miniature.
At the start, the on-screen keyboard shows the name of each key you press. You then practise separate notes at your own pace. A steady pulse is introduced later. The final stages place C and D over a short piano accompaniment.
One new main demand at a time
Choosing notes and coordinating them in time are introduced separately. Before selected exercises, a short page explains the task and the controls you will need. In the player, you can preview the task and reopen the control hints.
The introduction does not award points and does not replace a piano teacher. A stage is marked as tried; you can repeat it, leave the introduction and return to the saved place later. The on-screen keyboard is enough to begin. You can also use a connected digital piano.
