Two devices, one state — the device sync
Without an account, a profile really only lives on one device — device sync closes that gap: share your practice state, pieces and custom sounds between your own devices, without Klavissimo ever reading along.
What the sync actually does
Klavissimo encrypts your practice state on this device before it reaches the server. Only an encrypted container lands there — the server can't read the contents. No account, no password: the key stays exclusively on your own devices.
Setting up — with a Plus key
Under Settings → Data & Privacy → "Device sync", "Set up sync" sets up sync on this device — that needs a valid Plus key. Letting a second device join is free afterwards, no key of its own needed.
Pairing a second device
"Pair a device" shows a QR code and a link, valid for 15 minutes. Word for word: "The QR code contains your key — only show it to your own device." Scan or open it on the second device, and it becomes part of the same sync.
Syncing — automatic and on demand
"Sync now" under Settings → Device sync fetches the current state right away. Left alone, syncing happens automatically when the app starts and after every finished practice session — at most once an hour.
The conflict dialog — never a silent overwrite
If two devices practised independently of each other, Klavissimo never simply overwrites one state with the other: it honestly asks "Another device has a newer state from … Which one should win?" — with "Get the newer state" or "Upload my state — overwrites the other one" to choose from. Right after first pairing a device, this dialog almost always appears at the very first sync — not a bug, but exactly the moment the two devices get compared for the first time.
Your own sounds sync too
Custom sounds you've added (your own SoundFonts, up to 150 MB) sync along with everything else — they follow the practice state as their own, noticeably larger part, and only change when something actually changed. With that much data, Wi-Fi beats mobile data for the first sync.
Your data:
Four honest limits: (1) If every paired device loses the key, the sync state becomes unreadable for good — the file backup stays the only safety net. (2) A sync state with no access at all gets deleted after 12 months. (3) Setting up needs Plus, joining with a pairing code is free. (4) After restoring from a file backup, you pair the device again — the device identity itself never travels along in a backup file.
