No MIDI cable handy, but a real acoustic piano? Choose "Real piano" during onboarding or later under /profil → "Your instrument" — Klavissimo then practises with you honestly, without scoring.
Choose acoustic mode
/profil → "Your instrument" switches any time between "E-piano / keyboard" (with a USB cable), "Real piano" (acoustic · no cable) and "No piano yet" (just exploring — then the on-screen keyboard is your instrument) — and the choice applies to your next player session straight away.
What still works without scoring
Sheet music, the daily plan and "Play through only" to listen along keep working unchanged. What you take over yourself: the scoring — no score, no note colouring.
Keep the tempo
After the count-in, the cursor keeps moving at the selected tempo without listening to your playing. "Pause" holds the run and "Keep practicing" resumes it. If you scroll away from the cursor, "Back to the playing spot" returns you to it.
Follow your playing (Beta)
With your permission, the microphone listens only during the run and tries to move the cursor from recognised piano tones. It works best in a quiet room. If it loses the position, you can pause or choose "Switch to tempo practice" without the microphone.
Rate it honestly after practising
After a session the tutor asks how it went — you pick from three ♩ cards: "was hard", "went well" or "nailed it!". This counts towards your plan and practice diary, but nothing is being checked here.
Your data:
To be honest: in acoustic mode Klavissimo doesn't score your playing — not even when a MIDI device is connected. Every bit of feedback comes from your own rating, not from a measurement.
If an E-piano joins later: once Klavissimo hears a genuine note from that device while you're in "Real piano" mode, a small card appears with a question — "Practice with the e-piano" switches you to scoring with your tap, "Not now" simply keeps "Real piano" as is. You can just as well switch to "E-piano / keyboard" yourself, any time, under /profil → "Your instrument".
With "No piano yet", Klavissimo doesn't ask at all: the very first note genuinely played on a real instrument switches automatically — until then the on-screen keyboard was your instrument, now it's your new e-piano.
Beta: "Follow your playing" is an experiment for a quiet room; "Keep the tempo" remains the reliable route. On start, the browser asks for microphone permission — for a child profile only after a parent has allowed it on the profile page. The first time, Klavissimo offers a skippable calibration with five tones. Only hearing quality for bass, mid-range and highs plus the date is stored, never the sound itself. There is also the echo game "I call — you answer!".
Your data:
The same goes for the microphone: the sound stays in the room. It's processed only in the moment, on your device — nothing is recorded, stored or uploaded. Switch it off whenever you like; acoustic mode works just as well without it.
For parents
For a child profile, the parents decide on "Allow microphone listening" — it's off by default, and the child practises just as well without it; the cursor simply won't turn the pages on its own.
